Morocco at the International Parade in New York.
September 14th, 2003. 2.30 PM on Madison Avenue, known for its upscale shops and fancy designer clothing outlets, one would never hear the sounds of darbouka and ghaita on a normal day. Not this day. A small, but vibrant group of Moroccans, including the deputee counsul general of Morocco in New York and Moroccan Charity represented Morocco for the first time amongst a tapestry of cultures in the International Parade in New York. The group sure had a presence. The Gnawa group worked the crowd and the float carrying a traditional display of kaftans attracted immediate attention from the bystanders. The parade was a true delight and the Wafin Team is honored to share with you some pictures and videos from the parade.Photos
