Touria Khannous  [ March, 2003 ]
Touria Khannous

I did my bachelor's degree at University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah in Fes,
Morocco. I Graduated with honors in 1991. I did my DEA degree at University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah, Fes, Morocco in English, then graduated with honors in 1992. I completed a master's degree in English at Brown University in 1995

I completed my Phd disseration in English at Brown University in Summer 2002.
My Phd dissertation deals with African women's literature and film.

I designed and taught courses to undergraduates at different levels on writing  and composition, on African and postcolonial literatures, on women studies, and on British Romanticism.  I also taught an introduction to literature course at Hunter college in New
York.

I spent a year and a half as an exchange scholar at Columbia University, doing  research.  I am currently an exchange scholar at Harvard University, where I work as a research assistant.

I published articles on North African women's cinema, on Assia Djebar's literature and film, on Beur women's literature.  I also published an article in which I compare the views of such postcolonial critics such as Edward Said, Gayatri Spivak, Cornell West with regard to the Euro-centric canon and American
academia.

I plan to continue researching and publishing, as well as teaching.
