LIBREVILLE, Feb. 25-
Visiting HM King Mohammed VI performed, here Friday, along with Gabonese
President, El Haj Omar Bongo Ondimba, the Friday prayer in Hassan II
Mosque that was built by Morocco in 1983.
The mosque, the largest in Gabon, was built in the Moroccan architecture
style, and can host up to 5,000 people.
The Moroccan sovereign was greeted at the mosque by members of the Higher
Council for Islamic Affairs in Gabon.
HM King Mohammed VI, who started Monday, a “friendship and working” visit
to Gabon, co-chaired Thursday with President Bongo the signing of four
cooperation accords in fisheries, trade and industry.
The Moroccan monarch will end on Friday his visit to Gabon, before he
starts a private visit to the country. Afterwards, he will head for
Burkina Faso for an official visit, the first since he ascended the throne
in 1999.
Senegal will be the last leg of the royal African tour.
