RABAT, Feb. 28- HM King Mohammed VI of Morocco has expressed his “support
and sympathy” to ailing Pope jean Paul II who is recovering in a hospital
from a recent infection and throat surgery.
In a message sent Saturday to the Pope, the monarch wished him a prompt
recovery praying god to grant him “long life” so that he can carry on “his
noble action to the service of humanitarian ideals and for the triumph of
just causes and the spreading of values of tolerance, peace, dialogue
between religions and cultures.”
Pope John Paul II, 84, on Sunday made a surprise first public appearance
since his surgery, appearing at the Rome's Gemelli Polyclinic hospital
just moments after a Vatican official stood on the steps of St. Peter's
Basilica to read the pontiff's appeal for prayers.
