Rachid Moukhabir  [ May, 2014 ]
Rachid Moukhabir

Rachid Moukhabir was born in Casablanca, Morocco. After completing High School at Lycee Moulay Idriss in math major in 1993, he was accepted in “Les Class Preparatoire aux Grands Ecole des Ingenieur” at Lycee Mohamed 5 in Casablanca.  There, he completed 2 years of Math Sup/ Math Spe.  Later on, Rachid had to take some time off from college to attend to personal medical matters and that prevented from going back to the engineering school due to the school strict and stringent rules and regulations.  Rachid was enrolled to the Industrial Institute in Casablanca, where he received an associate degree in Industrial Instrumentation. Two years later, Rachid started his own company, Manar Froid, specialized in the maintenance of restaurant equipment and home appliances. He ran the company for two years until he decided to emigrate to the United States of America in 2003.

Upon his arrival to Boston, he found a job at Dunkin Donuts located in a hospital. Rachid then began to figure out ways to land a job where he can use his technical skills.  He began by taking English classes.  Then, he received his associate degree from Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston in Medical Electronics.  This landed him a position at the exact same hospital as Biomedical Engineering Technician. After, Rachid received a Bachelor degree in Electronics from Wentworth Institute of Technology, and an MBA in Management of Engineering and Technology. Rachid is also certified as an Information Systems Security Professional, a certification offered by The National Security Agency (NSA) and the Committee on National Security Systems to secure US systems from Cyber attacks.

The Moroccan-American Engineer then started a business he called EBAMS24, East Boston Advertising and Marketing Strategies, a company that helps small and medium size businesses to increase their clientele by improving their online presence. For more info visit www.ebams24.com

To give back to the community, the Arab-American entrepreneur launched a magazine called Zarah Magazine which is financed by EBAMS24, and empowered by volunteer writers from the community. Zarah is a monthly publication and online magazine created to address the needs of the Arab-American community of greater Boston. www.zarahmagazine.com

The mission of this magazine is three fold.

1-     Spread the use of the Arabic language and work to ensure that its use flourishes now and with future generations.

2-     Serve as a platform and a focal point that helps unite the diverse community of Arabic speakers in greater Boston.

3-     Educate the non-Arab community members of our community about the Arab culture in order to reduce misconceptions and negative stereotypes about Arabs and Muslims.  This will ensure harmonious co-existence between the community’s various ethnic groups and facilitate integration into the American society.
